How do I Clean House Mouse Feces Out of My Attic?

House mice can be very unsanitary. Aside from their urine with very strong faulty smell, their feces that litter all over the place is another concern you need to address. These pestering New York City animals are known to be carriers of bacteria, viruses and other harmful diseases. This is the main reason why you need to get rid their droppings and clean up the area as soon as possible before any contamination happens.

Where to find mice feces at home
Mice feces are often found in places where they stay at home. These places include the attic, walls, roofs, basements and cabinets. The attic is one of the best places for New York mice to thrive in. This is because attics are seldom visited. It is also a dark place where they can give birth to young ones.

How to clean mice feces from the attic
If you are certain that a New York City mouse is living in your attic, you need to get rid of its feces that can be scattered everywhere the place. First, put on a pair of gloves and mask. The gloves will protect your hand if you accidentally touch the feces while the mask will keep you from smelling the bad odor. The mask will also protect you for inhaling dust in the attic.

Equipment to use in cleaning mice feces in the attic
You can use a vacuum or a broom to sweep the litters. However, you need to make sure that the feces are not disturbed or swept all over the place as these may contain harmful particles. Slowly sweep the particles in one direction and put it inside a garbage bag. Immediately seal the garbage bag and dispose the particles.

What to do after removing mouse feces
After removing New York mouse feces from the attic, clean up the area thoroughly. Remove other unnecessary clutters and dispose them immediately as they may be contaminated with mouse feces or urine. Disinfect the area and keep the door or window open for an hour to keep the fresh air in. Inspect for any opening, gaps or holes that can serve as future point of entry for another New York City mouse.

Touching New York City mouse feces
As you clean the area, make sure that you do not touch the feces with your bare hands. If this accidentally happens, be careful not to touch other things around as the particles might be transferred somewhere else. Wash your hands with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and disinfect.
